Absolutely spot-on and I’m glad you agree, thank you for your comments.

And yet, I had a plethora of Roald Dahl read to me when I was a child at school in the 80s. In fact, The Twits and The Witches were my teacher’s favourite to read to us, she used to put on marvellous voices for the Grand High Witch and make us all laugh by giving theatricality to the stories. It was a great time.
What worries me is the ridiculousness of censorship denying future generations of children the wonderful words of Dahl. Where does it end?

I know I’m late to the party, but thank you!! Seriously, even as a 90′s kid who grew up throughout the somewhat (back then) lenient Political Correctness brigade, I find this beyond stupid. And notice that people moan and whinge about the lack of literacy amongst the youth. Well, it’s no wonder, you’ve taken away all their books which help them understand the English Language. Your fault, PC idiots!
In year 4 some stupid lady tried to have The Twits banned. My teacher thanked her for the reading tip and read it to our class. Some lady banned To Kill A Mockingbird for “being racist” despite it being pointedly against racism. I shut her up explaining that at the time and I was 15! Honestly, I wonder if it’s not illiteracy amongst the older generations instead.

Spare us from the PC brigade who see untold horror in every page they turn. I despaired years ago when it was said that Noddy was gay. So what if his mate had big ears, there are more pressing events in this day and age than a cartoon witch and a cat. Groan.
